TOMA
Toma on suomalainen kuvataiteilija kenen taidejuuret ovat perinteisessä piirrustus-, maalaus- ja kuvanveistotaiteessa. Laajentaen aluevaltaustaan installaatioihin ja valotaiteeseen, hänen teoksensa Aqua Terra pyrkii tuomaan vedenalaisen maailman visuaaliset elementit maan päälliseen ympäristöömme. UV-reagoivilla väreillä värjätyillä kankailla ja valoilla hän tuo ympäristöön meriolentoja jotka näyttävät leijuvan ilmassa metsämaisemassa luoden surrealistisen tunnelman.
Toma is a Finnish visual artist with a background in drawing, painting and sculpture. Expanding his field into installations and light art, his work Aqua Terra attempts to bring the visual aspects of the underwater world into our earthly surroundings. With the mediums of UV-reactive dyes on cloth and light he brings large scale sea creatures seemingly floating in the air in a forest landscape creating a surreal feel.

Secret Group will build a massive Blue Pyramid on top of the whole festival. This marks the festival to air and gives ambience to the whole area. Project is done using customised technique that will give possibilities to create elements for this scale.

Tamarin työssä on kysymys valosta, tilasta ja siitä, miten koemme tämän. Valo symboloi visuaalisen havainnointimme alkeellisinta puolta. Meidän ei tarvitse tehdä tai tietää mitään voidaksemme nähdä. Valo vetoaa silmämme ja aivojemme monimutkaisiin prosesseihin ja liittyy siihen, mitä tiedämme. Tämän luonnollisen yksinkertaisuuden ja ylevyyden ristiriita sisältyy tähän Maurice Merleau-Pontyn lainaukseen: "Maailma on se, mitä näemme, ja (…) meidän on kuitenkin opittava näkemään se (…)". Tamar Frankin työ viittaa tähän tietoisuuteen näkemisestä. Tamar: ”Haluan saada ihmiset tietoisiksi visuaalisen havainnointimme itsestäänselvyydestä. Haluan miettiä, kuinka hämmästyttävää/ihanaa se on, että voimme nähdä."
Tamar’s work is about light, space and how we experience this. Light symbolizes the most elementary aspect of our visual perception. We don’t need to do or know anything to be able to see. Nonetheless seeing is something sublime. It is magnificent that we can do this. It appeals to the complex processes in our eye and brain and connects with what we know. The contradiction of this natural simplicity and the sublime is enclosed in this quote by Maurice Merleau-Ponty: ‘The world is what we see and (…) nonetheless, we must learn to see it (…)’. Tamar Frank’s work points out to this awareness of seeing. Tamar: “I want to make people aware of the self-evidence of our visual perception. I like to dwell on how amazing/wonderful it is that we can see.”

Light weaves its intangible threads through the tapestry of reality. It scintillates gracefully, illuminating the world with its radiant touch. Light weaves its intangible threads through the tapestry of reality. It scintillates gracefully, illuminating the world with its radiant touch. It bathes the mundane in an arcane glow, unveiling hidden treasures and breathing life into the ordinary. Shapes emerge from the ethereal mist, embodying the language of form. They intertwine and collide, creating a dance of structure and chaos. Each hue carries a story, an emotion waiting to be expressed. Through The Cracks The Light Shines In is an interactive light installation that invites the observer to question the sense of self and the importance of recognizing how self-perceived flaws are experiences that made the whole stronger. When you look into a mirror what do you see? Our perceptions of ourselves and others is often distorted through the lens of our experiences. This installation reflects our flaws as beauty, as we are all broken to some degree, but these fissures in our spirit are what make us unique.

Viimeisen 20 vuoden aikana 60 prosenttia lentävistä hyönteisistämme on kadonnut.
Kukkien pölyttäminen on olennainen osa luonnon monimuotoisuutta ja ekosysteemien toimintaa. Torjunta-aineiden käytön seurauksena tapahtuva elinympäristöjen väheneminen vaikuttaa pölyttäjien lisääntymiseen ja sitä kautta lajien selviytymiseen.
"Ultraviolet Reality" kutsuu pohtimaan kukkaniittyjen ja pölyttäjien vähenemistä, ilmastonmuutosta ja ihmisen vaikutusta luontoon.
"Ultraviolet Reality" yhdistää luonnon ja teknologian sekä näyttää, miten kukkien väri- ja valo-ominaisuudet vaikuttavat niiden vuorovaikutukseen ympäristön kanssa. Sarja esittelee kasvit kahdesta eri näkökulmasta; ihmissilmän näköhavaintona, sekä ultraviolettivalossa, jossa ne näkyvät sellaisina kuin pölyttäjät havaitsevat ne. Normaalissa valossa kukat näyttävät meille tutuilta ja kauniilta, mutta ultraviolettivalo paljastaa piilotettuja kuvioita, merkkejä ja houkuttelevia värejä, jotka auttavat hyönteisiä löytämään kukinnot ja suorittamaan tärkeän tehtävänsä pölyttäjinä.

"Ultraviolet Reality" haastaa pohtimaan ihmisen vastuuta planeettamme hyvinvoinnista. Se kysyy, kuinka voimme vaikuttaa luonnon monimuotoisuuden säilyttämiseen. Kuinka luoda kestävämpi ja tasapainoisempi suhde ympäristöömme.
Teoksen kukat on kuvattu pääasiallisesti Joensuussa Puutarha Botanialla, joka on maailman pohjoisin trooppinen perhospuutarha.

In the past 20 years, 60 percent of our flying insects have disappeared. Pollination is an essential part of biodiversity and functioning ecosystems. The reduction of habitats, due to the use of pesticides, affects the reproduction of pollinators and, consequently, the survival of species. "Ultraviolet Reality" invites us to reflect on the decline of flower meadows and pollinators, climate change, and human impact on nature.
"Ultraviolet Reality" combines nature and technology by showcasing how the color and light properties of flowers impact their interaction with the environment. The series presents plants from two different perspectives: as seen by the human eye and in ultraviolet light, which pollinators perceive. In normal light, flowers appear familiar and beautiful to us, but ultraviolet light reveals hidden patterns, signs, and attractive colors that help insects find the flowers and carry out their crucial role as pollinators.
The interactive section of "Ultraviolet Reality" allows adjusting the lighting to explore flowers from the pollinators' perspective by using different light spectra. This interactive experience encourages contemplation of human awareness and the limitations of our perception in understanding biodiversity.
"Ultraviolet Reality" challenges us to consider our responsibility for the well-being of our planet. It asks how we can contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. How can we establish a more sustainable and balanced relationship with our environment?
The flowers in the artwork were primarily photographed in Joensuu, at Botania, the northernmost tropical butterfly garden in the world.
